The healing properties of an ’80s sitcom

Do any of you out there have something that lifts your spirits no matter what? For me, I love so many things, but there is something very special that always makes me feel exactly what I need to be feeling.

Who’s the Boss?

Possibly, in my humble opinion, the best television show in the world. I have the first season on DVD, 91 episodes recorded on my TiVo, and most of them memorized.

Any time I have been injured or sick, the theme song alone makes me feel better. So much better, in fact, that I almost forget my troubles. It’s amazing how powerful the mind is.

I know that sometimes you are in pain, or you are really sick, and things can’t change that quickly. But you have the choice to look toward healing, or to sulk in your misery. For a while I chose sulking and I found myself rather depressed and lonely. I wondered if it was even worth the fight.

Then I turned on the first episode of Who’s the Boss? and one of my favorite inspirational quotes is in that episode. When Angela is worried about her promotion, and Tony quotes Sinatra:

Through it all when there was doubt, I ate it up and I spit it out, I faced them all and I stood tall, and I did it my way!

I might be down for the count, but I know I will be getting better soon. 🙂

What’s your special thing with the magical healing properties?

I’m Tweeting (Yikes!)

  • So, I started going by my middle name in college because I've always liked it better. Now I'm Renée, and can be tweeted at "teafaellana." 3 years ago
  • I keep reading fanfics to tide me over until #OUaT is back. I can't wait to see more character development of Regina! #EvilRegals 4 years ago
  • This has somehow been the best and worst Thanksgiving I've ever had, all at once. 4 years ago

Heather loves hats that are designed to look like cute animals, fairy wings, cheese pizza, swimming in ponds, roller blading, taking silly self-portraits, learning, spending time with people, and just about everything else too. Heather does not love ... well, there isn't a lot that she doesn't love. You can probably figure it out after a little while!
