I Am

February 8, 2011 at 10:19 PM 8 comments

I am a nineteen year old girl full of big dreams, living in a small town full of big hearts. The town I work in might have one stoplight. Maybe. I am really very simple, but I’m hard to figure out. I strive for my personal best, but sometimes I don’t quite get there. I love nothing more than curling up with a good book and turning up the radio with a big soft blanket when nobody is home, but I love being around people. I’m athletic and I love sports, but I am lazy. I contradict myself, and sometimes I am a hypocrite. I love ’80s sitcoms, but I haven’t turned my television on in a week. I have a fearless attitude, but I am scared silly. I am afraid of elevators. I rode an elevator yesterday, and still do not feel like that fear is conquered.

I am special.

I am beautiful.

I am wonderful.

And powerful.

Sometimes I’m miserable.

Sometimes I’m pitiful.

But that’s so typical,

of all the things

I am.

My mission in life is to help people realize that even with all of their I Am‘s we can come together and form a loving community. It is all of these unique traits that helps us build strong relationships and really thrive. If we all had the same talents, abilities, flaws, and quirks we would not accomplish much greatness. If everyone were skilled musicians, the world would be very musical but it would be lacking so many things that are equally important. The same goes if we were all outgoing, all shy, all interested in learning about Art History, or all loved playing video games.

Why do we hide ourselves away from everyone else? What are we so afraid of? Are human beings really so cruel that we could be so ashamed of who we are? It has been said before, and I will say it again. Vulnerability is where acceptance really begins. When you allow yourself to be vulnerable, to be honest and loving, you invite others to be vulnerable with you. Yes, it is also a chance for people to make fun of you, but the only person you can control is yourself. If you open up, live honestly, and live lovingly, people will follow your example. Your light will radiate outwardly toward them, and it has more of a chance to effect them than your words alone will ever have.

I am not perfect. Sometimes I hide myself away too, but I am trying to quit. 😉

Everything that we do matters. Everything that we say matters. Even the thoughts that we think, the dreams that we dream, and the tears that we cry matter. Every time we laugh, it makes a difference. All of our hopes and wishes matter. You matter. I matter. We are made up of matter, so what would ever lead us to believe that we don’t?

Happy Adventures,

Smile about what you are thankful for, and never forget you are a dreamer.

I am a girl on a mission, and the mission I am on is to be myself. I am an undiscovered treasure, and here I am giving you a key that will allow you a little further into the labyrinth of who I am.

Heather loves hats that are designed to look like cute animals, fairy wings, cheese pizza, swimming in ponds, roller blading, taking silly self-portraits, learning, spending time with people, and just about everything else too. Heather does not love ... well, there isn't a lot that she doesn't love. You can probably figure it out after a little while!
