“It takes a long time to become young.” — Pablo Picasso

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”
— Margaret Mead

“I’ll go anywhere as long as it’s forward.”
— David Livingstone

“There is a certain relief in change, even though it be from bad to worse; as I have found in traveling in a stagecoach, that it often a comfort to shift one’s position and be bruised in a new place.”
— Washington Irving Tales of a Traveler (1824)

“Change is hard because people overestimate the value of what they have—and underestimate the value of what they may gain by giving that up.”
— James Belasco and Ralph Stayer Flight of the Buffalo (1994)

“Unless you are prepared to give up something valuable you will never be able to truly change at all, because you’ll be forever in the control of things you can’t give up.”
— Andy Law Creative Company

“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come.”
— Joseph Campbell

“Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.”
— Paul Boese

The voices of people before me ring out in my mind as I read through these quotes. I can hear their struggles, their victories, and their dreams in my head. I can hear them, as if they are standing right in front of me. They see that I am going through a time in my life where I need words such as these, and they hold me. These people, these voices, come alive in my mind because of what they say and what they do. There are so many brilliant voices in the world! Some of these voices may not ever be known for something that is quoted around the world, but they are just as brilliant.

  1. My Mother, who is always there for me no matter what. She is not perfect, but she is my mother and she loves me more than life.
  2. My Smonster, Susan, darling you are beautiful and intelligent. I’m glad you are going to be my honorary Valentine this year. :]
  3. My Grandmothers, who are so full of the experiences of life that they pour out of them in the most beautiful ways.
  4. My Youth Minister, whose sermons touch me and whose blog posts encourage me. He is truly a fabulous writer.
  5. My Co-Workers & Manager, who show me more than the ropes of my job– they also help me to grow in life.

The list really could go on for miles, because there are so many people who have enriched my life with words and actions that are oh-so-very quotable.

In saying this, I tell you to say what you mean and mean what you say, because you never know who will decide to quote you and share it with the world. A great string of words catches like fire…

Happy Adventures,
Burkie

I adore this post, especially this quote– “Unless you are prepared to give up something valuable you will never be able to truly change at all, because you’ll be forever in the control of things you can’t give up.” Thought provoking and inspiring, as always. Thanks Heather ❤

I’m Tweeting (Yikes!)

  • So, I started going by my middle name in college because I've always liked it better. Now I'm Renée, and can be tweeted at "teafaellana." 3 years ago
  • I keep reading fanfics to tide me over until #OUaT is back. I can't wait to see more character development of Regina! #EvilRegals 3 years ago
  • This has somehow been the best and worst Thanksgiving I've ever had, all at once. 3 years ago

Heather loves hats that are designed to look like cute animals, fairy wings, cheese pizza, swimming in ponds, roller blading, taking silly self-portraits, learning, spending time with people, and just about everything else too. Heather does not love ... well, there isn't a lot that she doesn't love. You can probably figure it out after a little while!
