Sad Note Meets the Moon (A Digital Photo-manipulation/Painting)

February 22, 2011 at 10:24 AM 2 comments

This is my latest digital painting/photo-manipulation, and I have spent a LONG time working on it. Man, I am so proud of this one. For the background I used this stock image of a wood texture and just repeated it several times and changed the color and such. I really did painstakingly paint over each part of the image to give it that “painted” feel, so it was kind of like tracing, ha ha… I added the tears and the moon all on my own though, without references. I really may as well have painted this… only I painted OVER it. ๐Ÿ˜› Sometimes I paint over photographs for practice, so I can train my muscles and pray for muscle memory! I haven’t done an exercise like this in a long time though. If you click on the images below it will take you to the page I got them from, and all credit goes to the respective creators of the image.

Practice really does help you improve, because I am so much better than I used to be. Just to prove that statement, I am going to show you the first thing I drew seriously with my tablet.

Wow, haha, that is so old to me (yes, it is Naruto fan art). Of course, I am sure that I spent much less time on this image than I did on the one at the top of this post. I would say I spent an hour or so working on this little doodle that would only take me a matter of minutes now. The image at the top of the post, on the other hand, is something I have been working on for several hours. I can’t even give you an amount of hours, because I have worked on it sporadically whenever I have found the time. Often I was working on it while doing my vocal warm-ups.

Happy Adventures,

Thank you, I really appreciate it. ๐Ÿ™‚ “Make my day you do.”

Hm… wonder where I got that quote from? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • I keep reading fanfics to tide me over until #OUaT is back. I can't wait to see more character development of Regina! #EvilRegals 4 years ago
  • This has somehow been the best and worst Thanksgiving I've ever had, all at once. 4 years ago

Heather loves hats that are designed to look like cute animals, fairy wings, cheese pizza, swimming in ponds, roller blading, taking silly self-portraits, learning, spending time with people, and just about everything else too. Heather does not love ... well, there isn't a lot that she doesn't love. You can probably figure it out after a little while!
