To Anyone Who Has Ever Taught Me

When anger is like a festering wound that you can’t remove,
when life is falling apart and you’ve got nothing to prove,
when misery is raining on you like a cold winter storm,
and poisonous words seem to become your norm,
because you can’t escape and you’re terrified,
you want to give up and you almost tried,
a voice was there with you and calling you in,
the voice it seems is your only friend…

It is something that almost cannot be explained. The way a person would try to explain their first breath, their first love, the first time they realized what they were meant to do in life. Life is full of things that almost cannot be explained. First heartbreaks, last wishes, and broken promises. Abandonment. Fear. A moment when words tumble out onto a page, or into a conversation, like paint being poured out of a bucket. Everything around you is stained with the words that you’ve spoken, and you don’t even know where they came from. The paint spreads, and the more you try to pull it from the page with the stale brush that is left in your hand the more damage you seem to do. You are covered with the paint, your loved ones are tinted, your enemies are disgusted. You want to run and hide.

You can’t.

What do you do?

In that moment, what do you do? What happens? Where do you go?

Something happens. Someone sees potential in the mess that you are. They take a new brush, and they begin to examine you for who you are. They work on your rough areas, and they bring out the best parts of you. They teach you.

Thank you, to all of my teachers. If you have ever taught me anything in life, thank you. I would not be half of the person I am had I not had such amazing influences in my life. Such incredible “voices” in my head.

To my current teachers at college, in voice lessons, at church, at home, fellow bloggers: I am learning great things from you, not only when you are trying to teach me, but by watching who you are.
Thank you.
Happy Adventures,

Wow. Your writing is so beautiful, Heather. I was nodding my head and thinking “Yes! I get this” the whole time I read this post. Thank you for being so raw and real. Your writing is truly powerful.

Aw, Jaclyn, thank you so much. I was inspired, and this just sort of flowed up and out of me. It had a life of it’s own.

I’m Tweeting (Yikes!)

  • So, I started going by my middle name in college because I've always liked it better. Now I'm Renée, and can be tweeted at "teafaellana." 3 years ago
  • I keep reading fanfics to tide me over until #OUaT is back. I can't wait to see more character development of Regina! #EvilRegals 4 years ago
  • This has somehow been the best and worst Thanksgiving I've ever had, all at once. 4 years ago

Smile about what you are thankful for, and never forget you are a dreamer.

I am a girl on a mission, and the mission I am on is to be myself. I am an undiscovered treasure, and here I am giving you a key that will allow you a little further into the labyrinth of who I am.

Heather loves hats that are designed to look like cute animals, fairy wings, cheese pizza, swimming in ponds, roller blading, taking silly self-portraits, learning, spending time with people, and just about everything else too. Heather does not love ... well, there isn't a lot that she doesn't love. You can probably figure it out after a little while!
