Dancing Through the Musical of My Life

On Staying Current with Vowels
By Laurie Doctor

The shape of what I want to say
is not in this syllable,
but in what I have left out.

It is what happens
when this sound,
the openness of a vowel tastes
a hard consonant
in your heart.
A new sound rises-
it belongs to you.

Sometimes I don’t always say everything the right way, or at the right times. I’m not perfect in the way that I like to make myself believe I am or should be. Sometimes, as open as I am, I close myself up and I feel something come right back in and open the doors. This usually happens right at the moment that I need it most. It happens like a musical, with a scene playing out in my life only to be strangely disrupted by a hauntingly strong melody. Something that at first appears like it doesn’t belong, but after the melody runs it’s course I realize that it was made for that scene in my life. I follow the music to where I should be, somewhere that just feels right. This music is mine, and it belongs to me.

You could say that I dance to the beat of my own drum.

Dancing through life in my own bombastic and spectacular musical.

The sing-along movie in my head.

If you can’t tell, I was very inspired by Laurie’s poem.

Happy Adventures,

I have limited musical talented (I can barely clap on beat at church), but I constantly wish my life was a musical.

As always, love your creative style.

Thank you. So much for my hiatus… I just couldn’t stay away when I kept stumbling upon these HUGE bouts of inspiration.

I’m Tweeting (Yikes!)

  • So, I started going by my middle name in college because I've always liked it better. Now I'm Renée, and can be tweeted at "teafaellana." 3 years ago
  • I keep reading fanfics to tide me over until #OUaT is back. I can't wait to see more character development of Regina! #EvilRegals 4 years ago
  • This has somehow been the best and worst Thanksgiving I've ever had, all at once. 4 years ago

The Blogger

Smile about what you are thankful for, and never forget you are a dreamer.

I am a girl on a mission, and the mission I am on is to be myself. I am an undiscovered treasure, and here I am giving you a key that will allow you a little further into the labyrinth of who I am.

Heather loves hats that are designed to look like cute animals, fairy wings, cheese pizza, swimming in ponds, roller blading, taking silly self-portraits, learning, spending time with people, and just about everything else too. Heather does not love ... well, there isn't a lot that she doesn't love. You can probably figure it out after a little while!
