“I don’t want to play with you!” [A Dose of Gratitude]

There is no denying that us “grown-ups” all laughed uproariously when my little second cousin said to my even littler second cousin, “I don’t want to play with you!” The boy had been chased around by his cousin for most of Thanksgiving dinner, and he was tired of her continuing to pester him. She wanted to play ball, tag, poke-me-I’ll-poke-you, and any number of games that 3-6 year old children may think of. He wanted to hang out with “The Guys.”

Of course we all think they’re just the best thing since sliced bread and we’re always laughing about the things that they say and do. They’re undeniably cute!

However, now that I am home I realized that the older cousin may have been taking the little cousin for granted. He may not have appreciated that she wanted to spend time with him, and probably wasn’t acting very thankful. A lot of us probably do the same things. “I don’t want to do the dishes for you,” or “I don’t want to run to the store for you,” or “I don’t want to watch that movie with you,” are all things that I say to my parents more than I should. I take them for granted more than I should. I don’t always show my appreciation or act thankful.

Maybe this lesson that my little cousins reminded me of will sink in a bit more this year.

Happy Thanksgiving,

I’m Tweeting (Yikes!)

  • So, I started going by my middle name in college because I've always liked it better. Now I'm Renée, and can be tweeted at "teafaellana." 3 years ago
  • I keep reading fanfics to tide me over until #OUaT is back. I can't wait to see more character development of Regina! #EvilRegals 4 years ago
  • This has somehow been the best and worst Thanksgiving I've ever had, all at once. 4 years ago

Heather loves hats that are designed to look like cute animals, fairy wings, cheese pizza, swimming in ponds, roller blading, taking silly self-portraits, learning, spending time with people, and just about everything else too. Heather does not love ... well, there isn't a lot that she doesn't love. You can probably figure it out after a little while!
