There is nothing like it. Nothing.

That moment when you are sitting with your family in a dark basement, praying that your extended family and friends are all safe and that homes stay in tact.

Praying that whatever damage may come can be rebuilt, and doesn’t have to be buried.

Wondering if your house will be the next to crumble.

Driving and seeing some trees standing like nothing happened, while a few feet away there is a short stretch of fallen wood and branches as if a giant stepped right there and nowhere else.

The strange sensation of thinking that at any given turn you could pass the rubble of what used to be a home or business, or school.

That feeling of absolute pure closeness and adoration you feel for everyone you truly love. Especially those sitting with you in the dark.

A little brother, a mother and father. Safe. Breathing. House still standing. Home not broken.

The eerie beauty of every street light for a handful of miles being out, even though it’s well past sunset.

Houses standing in silence after such a storm. Houses. Standing. Still.

The feeling that a hand is resting on your shoulder, keeping you safe.

Smuggling all your most prized worldly goods into the basement, Girl Scout Cookies included.

Family, friends, and co-workers calling and texting to make sure you’re all right. I love you all!

Watching the devastation in towns that are so close to yours on the news, feeling absolutely helpless.

This must be what peace when the world is crashing down feels like.

Just being. Breathing. Living. Loving.

There is nothing like it.

Happy Adventures,

Remembering Bible verses about courage and being brave.
Singing silly songs to drown out the sound of the storm soon approaching.
Praying together while holding each other.
Memories forever cherished, yet I hope to never repeat.

I’m pretty sure that Aaron Carter’s song “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” counts as a silly song… at least to us. That’s what Mom and I were jammin’ too. 😛 Good times. But yes, no repeat is necessary.

I’m Tweeting (Yikes!)

  • So, I started going by my middle name in college because I've always liked it better. Now I'm Renée, and can be tweeted at "teafaellana." 3 years ago
  • I keep reading fanfics to tide me over until #OUaT is back. I can't wait to see more character development of Regina! #EvilRegals 4 years ago
  • This has somehow been the best and worst Thanksgiving I've ever had, all at once. 4 years ago

Heather loves hats that are designed to look like cute animals, fairy wings, cheese pizza, swimming in ponds, roller blading, taking silly self-portraits, learning, spending time with people, and just about everything else too. Heather does not love ... well, there isn't a lot that she doesn't love. You can probably figure it out after a little while!
